Make your drawings move!

This is very simple and easy to do – but I think we need some more practice! Perhaps you will have more success!

All you need is a whiteboard marker, some hot water and a plate.

Draw a simple drawing or drawings onto the plate with the whiteboard marker. Then slowly pour some hot water onto the plate. The ink reacts as the water is poured on and the ink comes away from the plate and floats on the surface of the water. We had some success with this experiment – the pictures did indeed break away from the plate but the heart and star crumpled. The spider was a little more successful but as you can see from the photo a hole appeared in the middle of him!

We will try this experiment again one day with a different brand of whiteboard marker to see if that makes a difference!
