Camping with Kids
We love to camp. The first time A was just 1 year old. It can be a little daunting at first but it gets easier. We have enjoyed camping trips in Antrim, Waterford, Kilkenny and Wexford.
There are a huge number of campsites around the country with varying facilities. One campsite we stayed at was literally a field with a very basic shop and some portaloos! Another had a playground and a proper toilet and shower block. A third was on a farm where the kids could feed and hold some of the animals each morning and evening and the braying of a donkey woke us each day!
Over the years we have increased the equipment we bring with us and now we like to bring our airbeds, electric pump (that uses the car for power), a small cool box (great for campsites where you can get an electrical hook up to keep your milk and other bits cold) and our wind breakers which give you some privacy. We also always bring our solar charger to charge devices and our little camping stove which is great for cooking sausages, toasting marshmallows, etc. We now also have folding camp chairs and a foldable table.
We find camping is a great and cost-effective way of seeing various parts of the country and would highly recommend it!
