Giant’s Ring, Belfast
21 August 2020
If you’re stuck for something free to do on the outskirts of Belfast and fancy something outdoors set off on an adventure and see if you can find the ‘giant’s ring’! It is a prehistoric enclosure, around 200m in diameter, with a dolmen (tomb) in the middle. You can walk around the circumference and then venture in to the dolmen to see if up close – but do be respectful as it is an ancient monument after all! It is believed to have been built in the Neolithic period, around 2700BC.
There is limited parking (there’s no car park but space for a few cars where the road ends) and it is of course free. It’s a great place for a walk and some fresh air!
