Legoland Windsor

Legoland Windsor is a fantastic family theme park located not far from London in England. It is great for lego lovers but equally enjoyable for anyone who likes exciting rides!

We went one May when L and A were on half term holidays. This was a really good time to go as the English schools were not on holidays that week and so the park was not overly crowded.

We flew to London and headed straight for the theme park. We had booked the Lego hotel for one night so we were staying right in the park. There are however lots of alternative hotels and BandBs in the area if you are looking to save some money.

There are different themed rooms in the hotel and we stayed in a castle themed room. When we got to our room there was a short series of clues to solve to open a treasure where in lay a small lego set for each child.

Around the hotel there are a few different places to eat (pricey of course!) and there is also entertainment for the children at certain times – L and A particularly enjoyed the circus skills workshop where they tried out diablos and juggling, etc.

The park itself is quite big and took the whole of the next day to explore. From the miniature land entirely made out of lego to the rollercoasters there is lots of fun to be had. As you walk around there are lots of lego models to see – some even move – as well as plenty of rides to try out as well. There is also a great water play area so make sure to bring a change of clothes!

As with all theme parks there are the usual food stands and shops dotted around and on some of the rides you get your photo taken and can then buy your souvenir photo as a keyring, snowglobe, framed photo, etc if you so wish.

We stayed our second night in a (cheaper!) hotel by the airport and flew home the next day.
