raising kids in Ireland
As a family we are not fans of Hallowe’en. We prefer to celebrate light rather than darkness. Last Hallowe’en I wanted a local alternative event for our kids rather than dressing up in scary costumes, trick or treating and bonfires. With the help of the local minister’s wife I organised a light party for the children who attend the village church.
The children came dressed in non-scary costumes and we used a pumpkin to illustrate Jesus’ light and love. We also made chocolate covered apples as a treat, lit sparklers and did some crafts. It was a great, fun filled evening!
