Black Castle and the ‘Sea Glass’ beach

By the port in Wicklow town there lies the ruins of a castle known as Black Castle. It sits right on the edge of a small cliff overlooking the sea. Not much remains but it is possible to walk right up to what is left of the castle. Do take care though as there are no barriers!

Beside the castle are some steps leading down to a small beach. My kids have nicknamed this beach the ‘sea glass beach’. It’s a stony beach and, if you look carefully, you can find lots of pieces of sea glass in a variety of colours. L and A love to collect the little pieces. We even made some art for our bathroom from what we collected last year.
