Cloud dough is a silky sand like substance that is perfectly edible (though not exactly tasty!) and a great sensory material for babies and toddlers to explore. It can be powdery but also mouldable and is great fun to play with – though it can be messy too!
It is very simple to make. All you need is vegetable oil and flour.
Measure out 8 cups of flour and 1 cup of vegetable oil. Mix together in a bowl. You could add a bit of food colouring too if you wish. I usually then place the cloud dough onto a tray along with some utensils such as playdough toys, small plastic cups, etc.
If you have older children who are passed the stage of putting everything into their mouths you might like to try variations of the recipe such as using baby oil or conditioner rather than vegetable oil.
